“BSL, show that 2013’s watershed, The Last Time in Your Light, was no fluke…there’s lovely comparisons, still, between the likes of “Dust” and “Below the Sound” with some of Dave Fielding’s prettiest tones (e.g. “Perfume Garden”), but some of the dusty, dusky mystery of The Church circa Starfish seems better comparison nowadays. And still there’s plenty of spirituality, without bombast, whether on acoustic tracks such as “Pretty in Tears” and “Body and Soul” (not the Joy Division song) or the darker, meaner “Lost for You” and “DNA” which bite like slowly aroused wolves. Impressive.”
